Snowpocalypse

Posted by Kristy

One great thing about living in Bellevue is that we don't have much of a winter. But when it does snow, the entire city shuts down. It's crazy. With constant news headlines including words like "snowpocalypse" or "snowmageddon" or "snowzilla," you would think that we would have a couple of feet of snow outside by now. NOPE. We have more like three inches of snow, and it has stopped our lives.

We used to think that people here were just really dumb when it comes to driving in the snow. But when the neighborhood kids built a giant snow jump in front of our driveway, managing to get quite a bit of air as they fly down the hill, we decided to sit this storm out and bunker down with our massive store of pop tarts and oatmeal.

Food storage!

It turns out that it actually is really hard to drive in the snow here. This video was the result of last year's storm:

Like most independent films, you should probably just mute it and skip to the middle

My easy life just got easier because all of my seminary and work obligations have been cancelled. It's weird being trapped in my house all day--but in a fantastic, I'm-still-wearing-my-pajamas-from-four-days-ago sort of way. Trevor stays in the computer room all day, working from home. But I'll have you know that I've been very productive too.

Here's to hoping for three more inches and zero disruptions to my sedentary lifestyle.

  1. This totally made me laugh, in a "Oh my goodness--this is totally Kristy" sort of way. Love your pop tart/oatmeal food storage and your gaming fest you've got going on. I showed Carson and he thought that it was awesome. I'm sure you'll be glad to know that you are every 11 year-old boy's dream!

  2. That is the scariest food storage I have ever seen. Don't show Julie... the amount of high fructose corn syrup may send her into cardiac arrest :)

  7. You guys had it all covered! That food storage would make any Mormon proud!! What if you had lost your power like many parts of Seattle did? That would have been a tragedy of epic proportion at the Lacey home!! You guys are the best...
