The One Ring

Posted by Kristy

I've had a few people ask about my ring so I thought I would tell you the story. Honestly, I was nervous thinking of picking out a ring. It seems so final and I wanted to find the perfect ring for me. Of course this isn't the easiest task b/c I'm pretty picky and going into the whole ring shopping ordeal, I knew what I didn't want but had NO idea what I actually wanted.

So our first stop was at Losee Jewelers, what a joke that was. They probably only had about 20 rings total and all of them were on my large "don't like" list. The sales guy there just kept asking me if I liked these rings he would show me and the answer was always "no." He made me feel really picky, and after that store Trevor thought "this is going to be a long day."

I suggested we go into Wilson's Jewelers b/c it was the next nearest jewelery store. We walk in and the nicest guy talks to us and I try my best to explain kind of what I was looking for. I told him that I was picky and he said, "Of course you're picky, it's your engagement ring, you're supposed to be picky." Then he directs us over to our own private area, grabs a bunch of different rings and while I'm trying them on he goes in the back to get us some White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies. .....Amazing Right??? Of course at this point I'm ready to buy anything he puts in front of me, but we actually find something we like.

We were pretty set with what we found at Wilson's but he decided to stop by Sierra-West to compare prices. The sales guy helping us was pretty sleazy, I could easily picture him selling used cars with a gold chain around his neck. We told him we had been to Wilson's Jewelers and he immediately starts bad-mouthing them and saying how they use bright lighting to hide their inferior diamond quality. Plus like every ring I tried on he would try and flatter me by complimenting me on my long and slender fingers...it was a joke. AND everything was more expensive there. We were not impressed.

We went back to Wilson's Diamonds, found Trevor his ring and called it good. So what we did was we found a normal anniversary-type band with princess cut diamonds on it. We then took 2 rounded plain white-gold bands and soldered the whole thing together. It was fun because we basically created this ring and this was both Trevor and my favorite combination of bands. The result was perfection. I love my ring, it's perfectly rounded so it never catches on anything and it's sparkly...which is really what my goal was. Here are a couple of pictures of my ring.

Oh and on a completely separate note, if you enjoy fiction novels and haven't read "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins, go to the library and pick it up. It is fantastic, don't read about it beforehand just go and check it out. Kacey recommended it to me and I loved it.

  2. Kristy couldn't say enough about how nice the ring saleman was that gave them the cookie. I kept telling her that just because he gave her a cookie does not make him trustworthy. She took me in the next day to see the ring and I met the salesman and he was very nice. I like him very much and I trusted him and he didn't even give me a cookie! Beautiful ring!!
