Doughnut Experiement Results

Posted by Kristy

I consider myself a lover of food. My siblings all think that I'm such a food critic because I'm never just "satisfied" with my meal. I always compare my meal with others I have had in the past. I'm sorry, if some random restaurant serves me a half-decent sweet potato and ribs, I am going to be forced to compare it to Texas Roadhouse's delicious ribs with a sweet potato. I don't know if you have ever tried this, but when you order the sweet potato as a side dish to your ribs they ask you if you would like caramel sauce and marshmallows with it. Seriously, like is that even a real question? I believe my very response to that was "most definitely I do. " Picture of the loaded sweet potato below.

So yes, I consider myself a "foodie" and I'm proud of it. Anyways, a while ago I signed up with Krispy Kreme's mailing list (b/c I heard you get a free doughnut on your birthday, and I am all about that) and I got an interesting doughnut update. I'm sure most of you have heard about the new banana doughnut line. If not here are some pictures and descriptions.
Doughnut #1= Banana Pudding doughnut — the old-fashioned goodness of banana pudding is infused into this doughnut's banana Kreme™ filling, and then topped with vanilla icing and crunchy vanilla wafer crumbles.

Doughnut # 2= Banana Caramel Cake doughnut — which is covered in Original Glaze® and then generously drizzled with a scrumptious caramel icing.

We went out and tried these new doughnuts within days of receiving this email. I have to say that I was surprised with my results.

Doughnut #1 Result- Okay, so I was super psyched to try this doughnut. Everything about it sounded delicious but it was WAY too much. I LOVE sweet things, and add sugar to just about everything I make, but this sweetness was too overwhelming for me. Not only did the frosting and banana pudding creme not mix well, but the crushed wafers just made it even more sweet. I thought it was a great idea, but poorly executed.

Doughnut #2 Result- This was funny because I wasn't expecting much with this doughnut. It was more like the sidekick to the banana pudding doughnut, but I soon learned how wrong I was. This doughnut was delicious. It's like fresh banana bread with caramel sauce. It has that perfect cake-doughnut texture with a hint of banana, it was the winner in both mine and Trevor's minds.

So my advice is to go out and try this doughnut for yourself. I thought it was divine. In other news, Trevor and I both have callings in our new ward. I am the new Beehive Teacher and Trevor is the 2nd Counselor in the Young Men's Presidency. It's crazy, to think that I am the teacher, it doesn't seem that long ago that I was a Beehive myself. Kind of scary but I'm loving my girls already and it's fun that Trevor and I are both at mutual on Wednesdays. Another update is that Trevor and I got to give our "welcome" talks in the ward and now everyone loves us. We both really like to speak in church, and I use every church speaking opportunity to through in a little fake Irish-accent to seal the deal. 60% of the time, it works every time. So yeah now the ward loves us. It's good to be loved. We also are finishing up our apt decorations so we'll post about that soon. Go out and try those doughnuts and let me know what you think.

  3. I am so glad to hear that because I thought both donuts sounded disgusting. I like banana but I just couldn't see how bananas and donuts mixed well? I am anxious to try your pick though I am not sure when I am going to get the chance. I'm glad we don't have a Krispy Kreme here cuz I would be tempted to plan my schedule around the hot light!
