Our Place

Posted by Kristy

A few weeks ago, we took some house pictures because our place was spotless in preparation for the arrival of my mom, Kylie, and Kendall. I figured it's now time for a "check out our sweet apartment" post. Funny story is that I texted my mom telling her that Trevor and I were planning on coming over to Moses Lake for Easter, and she texted back saying, "No, you're not. Kylie, Kendall and I are staying at your place because we're going to see Michael Buble." Of course this wasn't a, "Surprise, Kristy and Trevor! We got you tickets to come with us!" This was more of a, "We're going to stay at your place while you stay home and we go to our sweet concert." Gotta love family, but I can't complain too much because I did get new clothes out of the deal.

Back to the apartment... So a few months ago, I found a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on Craigslist and thought it had a lot of potential. I convinced my Aunt Julie to come and scout it out with me, and we both fell in love with it. It's a basement mother-in-law apartment, but it's not the dingy, rotting pit of despair that most basement apartments are. It stays cool in the summer but it also gets plenty of sunlight. Doug and Suzanne own the house and live on the top floor. They are great: Doug can fix anything, and plus they have offered to take us out on this:

Oh yes, we live a hard life.

Like most Earls, TV has always been--and will always be--an important part of my life. To quote Homer Simpson, "Let's just plop them in front of the TV. I was raised in front of the TV and I turned out TV. " Or "Kids, while we're out, the TV is in charge. Go to bed when it tells you to." Yes, television has brought so much joy into my life. Luckily Trevor now loves TV almost as much as I do, so it wasn't hard to convince him to buy our 47" LCD screen that we found at Fry's for $700. One of the greatest days of my life...

Trevor worked his nerd magic on the TV, and now we get free DVR goodness through Windows Media Center. It's sweet; it works; it's free. Did I ever mention how much I like free stuff? You can ask Trevor about how it all works. My answer is "magic." Just like the TV and Internet: it all works by magic. The best part is that you can view a list of all the upcoming movies on television and Netflix (in the form of DVD covers) and choose to record them with reckless abandon.

Now imagine this 46" bigger

And now to the picture walk-through of our apartment:

  1. I'm pretty sure that is the best first apartment EVER! Lucky ducks! And I am also pretty sure, that I'm going to have to ask you to watch my kids so I can go to the temple but not be gone for six hours. I'll pay you of course! But only if YOU are babysitting, not the TV...haha. Daishan

  5. I never quite knew your fanatic love for television until this post. Whoo, your place is POSH! Especially being in one of the poshest places in Warshington! I would actually LOVE to visit. I find hippie areas fascinating. Oh, also, Jake's Da got us a TV that exact same size!!! I'm pretty sure it changed my life.
